KINETIC RiscPC UPGRADE Card
Kinetic Energy (kih-NET-ik) - symbol ek. Energy of motion, equal (nonrelativistically) to half the mass multiplied by the speed squared.
The KINETIC Upgrade Card is a new development from Castle that vastly improves the performance of a RiscPC. This new KINETIC Upgrade Card gives up to 4 fold increase in performance. (Compared to the previous Acorn designed StrongARM processor card). The KINETIC Card is a spin-off from other technical inovations that Castle have underway.
INTEGRATED SDRAM
The KINETIC Upgrade Card incorporates a single SD RAM module, providing the StrongARM processor with unrestricted fast RAM access. This ensures that the processor can access memory at its maximum design speed of 66MHz. This speed increase is more than 4 times the speed of the original FPM RiscPC, which runs at only 16MHz.
STRONGARM PROCESSOR
The Revision T 233MHz StrongARM processor is the latest ARM processor and is manufactured by the world's leading processor company, INTEL.
RISC OS 4
A specially produced version of the the world beating RISC OS 4 operating system is supplied with every KINETIC Upgrade Card. RISC OS is an easy-to-use, reliable operating system which is permanently installed in uncorruptable ROM on the KINETIC Upgrade Card. This ensures unbeatable start up times (from reset or power on).
ROMLOAD
On booting, Castle's new ROMLOAD protocol automatically loads RISC OS into the new fast SD RAM. Uniquely this ensures that RISC OS is also able to run at the new faster SD RAM speeds.
SharpBUS
Castle's new SharpBUS protocols have been used to enhance and improve the processor BUS timings. This ensures better compatibility with PC cards, FPM memory etc. Thus the new KINETIC Upgrade Card will ensure that PC cards are much more likely to work well than with the original StrongARM upgrade.

The KINETIC RiscPC Upgrade card is a plug in upgrade for existing RiscPCs. For a limited time it comes with 64Mb of SD RAM FREE. The price for this upgrade is only £399 + delivery and vat (£475.86).
